it's not that we don't get along

it's just that you were always wrong. enough is enough.

you'd hate for the kids to think that you have lost your cool

the pork and beans song is stuck in my head like a broken record. i woke up at 4am because my brain kicked into high gear again and started listing all the things that i'm supposed to do [blogging is not one of them by the way]. i wonder why my brain does that and mark's brain just directs him to sleep. he's blissfully sleeping and snoring away on the couch right now. sigh. sometimes i wish i was him.

anyway, i'm blogging because isang brought up a good point on her blog: i have not written anything on this site for a while. when i was 7 my mom gave me a diary and i would furiously write on that thing about everything and anything remotely exciting that's happening in my 7-year-old life:

dear diary,
today i wore my mint green mini skirt and pink cut off shirt with shoulder pads. my classmates loved my look and asked where i bought my clothes! my mama got them from the okai okai sa bahada. and my crush garie passed me a note in class telling me i looked cute...

lol. this totally dates me -- gotta love my 7 year old fashion sense and my mom's frugality. but the point is, not blogging is like cutting off a part of me that has existed ever since i was that young. i've always liked writing. whether i'm good at it or not is definitely debatable, but then again so is everything else. =P

on grown up things, escrow wasn't so bad until yesterday when we found out that the house we are buying is actually titled as a "condominium unit" ... which is funny because it is not attached to anything at all. not sure why the developers did it that way but i imagine it has something to do with getting speedy permits. then we find out that the damn thing is not HUD approved, which is a requirement for our FHA loan.

Glossary for my friends who don't live in the US:

HUD - housing and urban development

FHA - federal housing administration, FHA loan
is a federal assistance mortgage loan in the United States insured by the Federal Housing Administration (synonymous to a Pagibig loan in the Philippines)

we are poor so we have to get an FHA loan since it allows you to put 3% down instead of the hefty 20-30% down that conventional loans require. so yes, instead of closing thursday, we will close next week. but like i told isang, maybe things are happening the way they should. vaughn's party is this sunday so if we close next week, that means i'll have the party out of the way and we can have labor day weekend to move. sometimes i hate being a grown up.

and with that, i leave you with the lyrics to weezer's pork and beans, enjoy:

They say i need some rogaine to put in my hair
Work it out at the gym to fit my underwear
Okaley makes the shades to transform a tool
You'd hate for the kids to think that you've lost your cool

Imma do the things that i wanna do
I ain't got a thing to prove to you
I'll eat my candy with the pork and beans
Excuse my manners if i make a scene
I ain't gonna wear the clothes that you like
I'm fine and dandy with the me inside
One look in the mirror and i'm tickled pink
I don't give a hoot about what you think

everyone likes to dance to a happy song
with a catchy chorus and beat so they can sing along
timbaland knows the way to reach the top of the charts
maybe if i work with him i can perfect the art

Imma do the things that i wanna do
I ain't got a thing to prove to you
I'll eat my candy with the pork and beans
Excuse my manners if i make a scene
I ain't gonna wear the clothes that you like
I'm fine and dandy with the me inside
one look in the mirror and i'm tickled pink
I don't give a hoot about what you think

no, i don't care
i don't care

hallelujah we are in escrow!

got the official escrow papers yesterday. we got an answer from the bank last friday but there were no paperwork and signatures yet so i didn't blog about it [yet] (even if i really really wanted to) so as not to jinx ourselves! but now that it's all in black and white...yes! so the REAL journey to homeownership begins. and with such great timing. i am planning vaughn's 2nd birthday party, taking review classes, and have to take 2 tests this month. because i'm insane and love to inflict pain on myself. hahaha! but maybe i work well under presssure anyway. my head is still reeling from all the money we are going to shell out for this house. but, sooner rather than later i guess. besides, everytime i come home and have to deal with bitch neighbors, tandem parking and waiting around for the laundry room to be available, i now have a secret smile -- just like the cheshire cat. and i think to myself: I WILL NEVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS AGAIN, EVER! of course i understand that with homeownership comes a whole host of other problems and annoyances, but at least, it's our home. it's our little piece of california heaven. sigh. ok, i'm gonna go now and read through 60 pages of escrow papers and write down my questions. sayonara.

can i just bitch?

yes at 1:49 am. why do FILIPINOS, when they see you, always say: "don't be offended but wow you've gained a lot of weight!" why do we always feel the need to point out the negative everytime we see each other? why can't we just shut the fuck up. how does the saying go? IF YOU HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY, DON'T SAY IT AT ALL. its funny, the whole time i was growing up i never understood what crab mentality means. well here it is in all its glory. i saw a picture of my friend and she looked gorgeous in it, in fact, she was the prettiest among the girls in the picture. and this one hater bitch comments: "you look pregnant in this pic" what the fuck! pardon moi francais but shit, if we are going to tear each other down by making snide comments about looking pregnant...this is why a lot of filipino women do not have the confidence and self esteem that american women have. i'm not generalizing, i've seen this happen lots of times aarrrggghhh --- (teresa is taking deep breaths...whoooooozzzzaaaa. oooohhhhhmmmmmm). anyway, my point is, if you are going to start your sentence with: "don't be offended but..." then i suggest thinking twice about what you are going to say. if you think that there is a slight chance that you would offend someone by your comment, shut your trap. whatever happened to just saying "hi, hello, how are you? its been a long time." there. i've said my piece.
