easter egg hunt
hollywood/highland photos courtesy of tepWeekend was such a blast! Friday night our long lost friend Christian Canga came over with his brother Tutz – we had dinner at our favorite Vietnamese place (pho, charbroiled pork chops, and egg rools...cheap but yummy food!) and caught up on good o’l times. FYI for those who don’t know, Christian and his sister Tatchie were the people responsible for introducing Mark and I to each other (grammar check here), so understandably we’re both very very fond of them =) Mark’s friend from Colorado who they all call Batman also came over (I have no idea why they do, his real name is Richard). I didn’t get to take pics because we were yapping away about what’s going on with each others lives and such. Saturday we went out with the whole crew at the suggestion of Rebecca C. who’s been suffering cabin fever since her baby was born last month. here's a pic of me checking out her post-baby-breastesess! hahaha

So we all drove to Lucky Strike, a posh bowling/billiard/restaurant/bar located in the middle of Hollywood chaos and had some good grub. Their salads are fantastic and I think I ate a piece of everyone’s meal! I can’t believe how much food I eat these days. It seems like every 2 hours or so I get hungry – I told Mark that this baby totally takes after him. Always eating! Thankfully I’m not gaining that much weight since it’s all going outward to my tummy. But I know I need to watch it since I don’t want to be super fat after I give birth. Yea call me vain or whatever you want, but I’m so short I can’t afford to gain a lot of weight because I’ll look like a butterball and Mark’s gonna have to roll me around when we go out for walks (think: Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the chocolate factory) – hahahahaha! Everybody ended up at the house since we were all broke and can’t afford Lucky Strike’s steep prices for bowling lanes and shoe rentals. Everybody was really mellow and just sat around and watched La Visa Loca – an indie Filipino flick about a guy who desperately wants to get a visa to come to America. The cinematography and script is awesome (yes there’s English subtitles) and the lengths this guy goes to just to get the coveted visa is hilarious (he ended up being nailed to the cross – how’s that for bizarre?).

Sunday we went to my sister’s house to be with the fam for easter and also celebrate my mum’s bday. the kiddies had a ball hunting for easter eggs and dancing/singing/running around. the funniest part of the easter egg hunt was when mark placed a pink egg (with money in it) on a pink rose -- the camouflage effect was amazing and it took the kids a few minutes to locate the egg! all the adults were laughing their heads off because the kids were very very serious about looking for the last egg. after a couple of hints they finally found it and we all headed into the house to count the finds. i've never seen so many pastel colored candies in my life! next year i'm looking forward to have my own kid join the easter egg hunt (it's still so surreal to say this by the way).

mark's not buying a shotgun after all =)))
I'TS A BOY! we went to get my level 2 ultrasound yesterday...my post is a bit late as Mark has already spread the good news to everyone and their mothers -- hahay! super excited dad =) anyway, i took some pics and i still have to scan the ultrasound so i'll post them here later. work's super busy since it's disney's quarter close and i can't even get a breather in between being excited and working long hours...sigh! yesterday i stayed till 9 pm =( oh well, such is life. after this week, my schedule should be back to normal.
everything in the ultrasound was good. good measurements, strong heartbeat, the doctor said the baby is progressing as he expected. the funniest thing though is that it took him a while to determine whether it was a boy or a girl because our baby just wouldn't cooperate. he kept hiding his private parts with his legs...pagka-maldito! heheheh. the doctor had to jiggle my tummy a bit and made me switch positions so that he'll move. eventually he did and when he proclaimed that it was a boy, mark's face just lit up like a jack-o-lantern! And the entire day (even up to when he picked me up at work), he had this cheshire cat grin on his face. sooo funny! now he keeps rubbing my tummy and making sure the baby is alright (he used to do that before too but even more often now) hahahah! he's so excited to have a mini-me. he said he's gonna buy matching outfits for him and the baby. oh my gawd...here we go. hahahah! i just kept laughing, it's really hilarious to see him react this way. i've never ever seen him this way before, it's kinda bizarre. maybe that's what fatherhood does to guys.
well, i hope the doctor is right...i told mark not to get too excited because there might be a chance the doctor made a mistake. i don't want to be a party pooper but hey, it can happen, but i sure hope he didn't make a mistake! we've been watching "my super sweet 16" on mtv lately and the two of us just cringe when we see a teenage girl in a very very short skirt, tight tank top, crazy dyed hair, and ugg boots screaming "daddy daddy i want that landrover! in red! because it's the closest color to pink!!!" (shudder!) yeah, this is why i'm so paranoid to have a girl. i wouldn't know what to do with her if she gets to that age...=P
anyway, lots of things to look forward to this weekend. my sister kate is having her house blessing (for my non-catholic friends, the religion's tradition is: whenever you make a major purchase, i.e. a car or a home, you have a priest come over and bless the home/car/etc to bring prosperity to the family and to ward off evil. then you invite people over to celebrate with you -- with lots of food and drinks of course!). my mom's birthday is on sunday, and then i get to pick up the crib that my sister Isa is giving to me. now i can start decorating the baby's nursery! and build a registry! yeeehaaa! the excitement is definitely building up. i'm praying everyday that i'll have a healthy pregnancy and that i'll be full term and that everything will be normal. still trying to do regular exercise and eat right. i can't wait!!!

daylight savings time sucks =P

blech! i lost an hour of sleep yesterday and today. it usually takes me a while to adjust to the time change so now my biological clock's all out of whack. nothing much going on right now. work's gonna be crazy and i still have to file my damn taxes!
i'm eating a loooot...but during my last doctor's visit i only gained 3 lbs! i'm really kind of amazed i didn't gain more. but oh well, i guess that's a good thing. my massage last weekend was to-die for! my masseuse Albert did a really good job and he gave me some useful tips to do on my own to improve the blood circulation to my baby. he's russian and has 1o years experience at a hospital in moscow massaging pregnant women. hahaaay!! i wanna go back! i think i'm gonna do that every month but we'll see if my budget allows it heheheh!
anyway, here's my dream stroller. i really really can't afford this thing because it's $8oo and you have to buy all the accessories...but hey, it doesn't hurt to dream. who knows, i might win the lottery tomorrow hahaha!
